Location and Activities

28 Pa Road, Kerikeri 0230, Bay of Islands, New Zealand.

Lyness Accommodation is conveniently located just 3 km’s from the town centre of Kerikeri on a quiet no exit road. Kerikeri can be reached by either a 45 minute flight from Auckland to the Bay of Islands Airport (7 km’s from Kerikeri) or 270 km’s by road, about a 3 hour drive. Kerikeri, gateway to the Bay of Islands, is a vibrant community with a warm sub-tropical climate, often called the winterless north. It is regarded as the birthplace of the nation and has the 2 oldest buildings in New Zealand, the Stone Store and the Kemp House.

Kerikeri offers many attractions in addition to the historic Stone Store basin. It is now home to a stunning 11 metre high water sculpture of stacked boulders and bronze shells, by world famous artist, Chris Booth.

Kerikeri has several award winning wineries, a chocolate factory, world class golf nearby, a Sunday farmer’s market, a civic centre, and the unique Cathay Cinema. Kerikeri has a thriving arts and crafts industry along with boutique shops and several cafes and restaurants to satisfy a variety of culinary tastes.

The Stone Store basin is a 15 minute walk from our accommodation. Here you can visit the Stone Store, Kemp House, Kororipo Pa site, and the historic St. James Anglican church. Or cross the foot bridge over the river and walk the Rainbow Falls track.

Kerikeri is ideally situated for day trips to Cape Reinga, the Kauri forests, a boat trip out to the Bay of Islands, historic Waitangi, or the romantic town of Russell.

Or one can experience the almost endless aquatic opportunities the Bay of Islands has to offer --fishing, boating, kayaking, diving, snorkelling, or just relaxing on one of Northlands beautiful beaches!

Your hosts, Sharon and Adrian, have lived in the area for several years and are happy to help plan your activities in the area to maximise your time and enjoyment of this beautiful part of New Zealand.
